My Current Waterloo

The picture didn't come out as well as I hoped but I assure you the strawberries covered with white chocolate that Little d made tasted sinfully delicious. And I can fool myself these are somewhat healthy as I down them left and right. What is your current guilty pleasure in the food department?

Looks good. Not a guilty pleasure yet, but I've just made my first batch of mango-lime salsa for shrimp.

Leah, would you have the recipe for that? My wife is very interested.

Unfortunately these days, with my diabetes, guilty pleasures are limited to reading. Mine are a couple of writers that have seen much better days. After a current bout of five by one in less than a week(via the local library), I think I'll be leaving him behind henceforth.

David, I based it on several I found around the internet and then made stuff up on the spot.
I don't follow recipes and I'm not into measuring, but here goes:
It's one ripe mango fairly finely chopped with about a teaspoon of cane syrup a pleasure but not a guilty one) about 1/3 cup of chopped red bell pepper, tablespoon of Egyptian onion greens (ordinary onion greens will be fine),Frank's Extra Hot Sauce( about five drops?) light dusting of cayenne pepper, tablespoon of finely chopped jalapeno pepper, salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste, a few extra hot pepper seeds we had lying around (half a dozen or so) and maybe a tablesppon of lime juice. I haven't tasted it yet as it needs to gather for about two hours covered and in the fridge.
I'll let you know how it tastes and if it needs adjustment.
Mix the cane syrup with the mango first so it starts juicing. Add the rest, mix well and let rest.

Hola, Cloudia.

Chris, Ha! Big Dipper ice cream sounds damn good.

That's a lean diet for sure, Randy. Well maybe you could cut back on one writer. :)

Leah, That looks pretty straightforward and very good. Denise says a BIG thank you for writing it down.

Banana chimichanga with ice cream on the side. Like your strawberry, I believe this is quite a healthy dish. There's fruit, dairy, carbs...oh, wait.

That looks delicious. Funny enough, Melanie and I are about to head out to DQ for some M & M blizzards!

Good lord! "Banana chimichanga with ice cream on the side!" Where do you get that?

d and I love DQ but the nearest one is a good hour away. They do have some of the best desserts.

Peet's Coffee has a dried fruit and nut scone that trips my trigger...

David, it's a dessert specialty at a local Mexican restaurant. Have always enjoyed Jalisco cooking, but my seven-year old is the one who introduced me to the desserts!

David Cranmer said...

Ron, Yep, I'm on board.

Ok, Rich. Then the next time I'm in town...

That looks okay to me: fruit's healthy; chocolate does you good. My sinfulness centres on cheese!

Being a diabetic, what you showed would put me to my bed for a few days or so.

However, my guilty pleasure is Chinese. Sometimes, its worth the 150 point bump and lethargy the next day.

David Cranmer said...

Dave, We're a big fan of cheese in this family.

G, You know I like Chinese food but I can go many months without partaking. No burning desire I guess.

Blackberries and cream, strawberries and cream -- I could eat these all summer long.

Amen, Naomi!
